The PortalPlayer Software Engineering Group designs, develops and deploys state-of-the-art software and applications that support digital music devices. It is a demanding responsibility requiring hardware/software application engineering and working with multi-vendor software and hardware.

You will develop complex architectures and code which may include performing in a team of software engineers with the responsibility to deliver a suite of code. In this position you may be responsible for assisting to remove roadblocks impeding development. You will be required to solve customer problems identified by sales and marketing, and diagnose and troubleshoot customer problems.

Successful applicants will be able to assist with Benchmark testing, and assist with identification of opportunities consistent with product capabilities. You will also be required to track and advise on evolving/developing related software technologies. You should have a concept of consumer appliances as well as the ability to analyze the usability of audio players and its user interface.

Requirements:

• Experience in C++, VC++/MFC, ATL/COM, WTL
• Experience in implementing COM connection points, collections, marshalling and multithreading
• Experience in GDI+, ADO,MS-SQL, Active-X and Direct-X
• Experience in design and architecture of media based applications
• Must be familiar with object oriented design and architecture
• Device driver development experience is a plus
• Knowledge and understanding of Windows, NT architecture/technology is a plus
• Understanding of Design Patterns and UML is required
• Excellent debugging skills and experience with various debug tools is required
• Good to have experience in developing music, audio, speech, image, video and other digital media applications
• Knowledge on encryption/decryption technology is a plus
• Concept of Graphical User Interface Design (GUI) for multi-media applications
• Knowledge of mathematical algorithms development is a plus
• Knowledge of communications protocol is good to have
• Knowledge of USB2.0, Firewire, wireless and other networking concepts is a plus
• Ability to create technical documentation
• Education: Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience.
