The PortalPlayer Test Engineering Group designs, develops and executes test suites on state-of-the-art software and applications that support digital music devices. It is a demanding responsibility requiring hardware/software application testing and working with multi-vendor software and hardware.

You will develop test modules and suites to validate and verify complex architectures and code. You will be responsible for designing and implementing API level test code in C++ and code analysis for risk and weakness.

This position provides engineering support by establishing test vectors, performing long term and stress testing, assimilating data that affords analysis. Helps to establish the working criteria and provides Engineering with recommendations. Designs and develops test plans and test cases for establishing the quality analysis and metrics. Designs test vectors, taking and assimilating data into a format that affords critical analysis. Constructs reports and utilizes methods of analysis, including Root Cause Analysis. Establishes criteria for testing and writes technical documentation and procedures to be used from the product design phase through initial production.

Successful applicants will be responsible for Benchmark testing, and assist with identification of opportunities consistent with product capabilities, including code test coverage analysis. You should have a concept of consumer appliances as well as the ability to analyze the usability of audio players and its user interface.

Requirements:

• Proficient with C and C++
• Must have a firm grasp of the product development process
• Excellent debugging skills and experience with various debug tools
• Familiarity with testing music, audio, speech and other digital media applications
• Concept of Graphical User Interface Design (GUI) for multi-media applications
• Experienced with object oriented design and architecture
• Education: Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience with 3 to 5 years experience in PC application/embedded software development/testing.
