Digital Media Manager™ — PortalPlayer Digital Media Manager (DMM) employs ActiveX client/server technology to enable development of a complete PC software application for interfacing to PortalPlayer-based digital devices. The DMM software development kit (SDK) provides developers with the components, tools, sample code, and documentation to create a custom digital media management application for digital audio device systems. DMM:

• Supports Microsoft Windows 98SE, Windows Me, Windows 2000, and Windows XP
• Enables development of third-party PC applications, which can provide device file system access and device control
• Supports USB 1.1 connectivity between the PC and the device
• Supports USB 2.0 mass storage device functionality (optional)

DMM API supplies COM components, DLLs, and device drivers to provide services for media management, playing, recording, and CD writing. Client applications developed with the DMM SDK provide the PC graphical user interface to the DMM server, and your audio device supplies the hard drive storage for the media database.
