John Mallard, President and CEO, was the Chief Technology Officer at National Semiconductor prior to founding PortalPlayer. He was responsible for the analysis and recommendation of advanced technologies and setting the strategic direction for the Company. Prior to National, he worked at Digital Equipment Corporation as Hardware Engineering Manager for the Mobile Products Group and was with Norand Corporation as a Product Line Manager for the Handheld Wireless Division.

Don Pacholec, CFO and COO, was Director of Business Development at National Semiconductor, responsible for major acquisitions and technology licensing. Prior to National, he was CFO at Hind, a sports apparel manufacturer. Don was also Director of Finance at Sun Microsystems and CFO at Optimem, a Xerox affiliate.

Michael Maia, Vice President Marketing and Sales, was Senior Director of Marketing for the Information Appliances Group at National Semiconductor, responsible for marketing Cyrix microprocessors and other peripheral devices. Prior to National, Michael was VP of Marketing at Cirrus Logic and held various positions including VP of Sales and Marketing at Trident Microsystems. Prior to the semiconductor business, Michael was in the music industry for nine years as President of Zeta Music Systems and General Manager of ADA Signal Processors.

J A Chowdary, President & Managing Director for Indian operations, is one of the chief architects of the Indian information technology industry. With more than two decades of professional experience, JA has worked for many reputed organizations in India such as, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd., Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) and METAMOR Enterprises. He was formerly the Chairman of the Computer Society of India and Director of the board of Indian Institute of Information Technology.

Sanjeev Kumar, Vice President Software Engineering, has over 11 years experience in firmware, driver and application software development. Prior to PortalPlayer, he served as Director of Software Engineering at National Semiconductor where he was responsible for developing the firmware, drivers, Microsoft WHQL certification, and applications support for the Cyrix integrated microprocessors and their peripherals. He also managed third-party software vendor relationships. Previously, Sanjeev was with Digital Equipment Corp. as a Software Engineering Manager in the Mobile PC Group and was with AMI as Director of Mobile BIOS.

Jeff Hawkey, Vice President Engineering, brings more than 16 years experience in all aspects of product development including architecture, specification, project planning, design, and verification. Prior to joining PortalPlayer, Jeff served as acting VLSI director of Philips Semiconductor where he was responsible for the implementation of advance image processing algorithms in sytem-on-chip ICs. Previously, he held management positions at National Semiconductor, Cirrus Logic and NCR Corporation.

George Fang, Vice President of Worldwide Sales, has more than two decades of marketing and sales experience in the semiconductor industry. Previously, he served as Director of Sales at Tripath where he oversaw global sales of the company's digital power amplifiers. Prior to Tripath, he was responsible for the sales and marketing of video and audio chips for OPTi, Oak Technology, and Trident Microsystems.
