The PortalPlayer Hardware Engineering Group designs, develops and deploys state-of-the-art software and applications that support digital music devices. It is a demanding responsibility requiring hardware/software application engineering and working with multi-vendor software and hardware.

Requirements: The position requires a Masters Degree in Engineering with over 4 years of experience or a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with over 6 years of experience in UNIX administration. The candidate should have excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt towards working in a cross cultural work environment. Other requirements include:

Supporting VLSI Design tools
Development of flows for synthesis, DFT, static timing analysis, verification
Solaris & Linux Administration
EDA Tools administration and License Management
GRID computing
NIS, NFS, DNS, RAID, Load balancing
Working knowledge in Shell scripting
SAN & NAS
System level security procedures
Veritas Backup & Recovery
System performance tuning & Kernel tuning
Must have excellent shell, perl and Tcl scripting skills
Must have excellent C or C++ programming skills
Desirable to have knowledge of distributed computing
Desirable to have experience with UNIX and system administration
Must have worked on multiple ASICs to tapeout
